Account change alerts

An account change alert tells you when an important security setting on your account was changed, so anything you did not expect is something you notice quickly. Email account change alerts are free.

What triggers an alert

Awthy sends an alert when any of these change on your account:

Your password is changed.
Your email address is changed.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is enrolled or disabled.
A passkey is added or removed.
Your recovery codes are regenerated.
A backup code is used to sign in.
A trusted device is added or revoked.
An external login (such as a linked Google or Apple account) is linked or unlinked.
Your username is changed.

Each alert tells you what changed and when. If you made the change yourself, no action is needed. If you did not, the alert links you back to your site so you can secure your account.

An Awthy alert will never ask for your password or a one-time code, and never contains them. If a message claiming to be from Awthy asks for credentials, treat it as phishing.

When an administrator makes the change

Some changes can be made on your behalf by a site administrator — for example, resetting your password or removing a 2FA method during support. When that happens, the alert says the change was made by an administrator rather than by you, so you always know the difference between a change you made and one made for you.

Choose which changes alert you

Go to Awthy Security → Notifications:

Alert me on security changes — a single master toggle that controls all of the alerts above. It is on by default. Turning it off stops every account change alert.
Advanced — when the master toggle is on, you can expand the advanced section to turn individual alerts on or off. For example, you can keep password and email alerts on but turn off the backup-code alert. Any change you leave switched on still alerts you; anything switched off does not.

Most people can leave everything on and never touch the advanced settings.

Email and other delivery

Email account change alerts are free and need no setup. Sending the same alerts to another system through a webhook is a paid add-on; if you have it, webhook delivery follows the same on/off choices you set here.
